Caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered officials at government organisations and state enterprises to work from home and suspend overseas trips, as part of measures to cope with the Middle East war's impact.
Officials of government organisations and state enterprises are ordered to immediately begin working from home, except those responsible for public services.
They must also suspend planned overseas trips.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy has proposed air-conditioning systems in government and private sector offices be set higher, at 26-27°C, and employees wear short-sleeved shirts without neckties, turn off unnecessary electrical appliances, reduce elevator and photocopier use and promote online meetings.
If the Middle East situation worsens, the government would dim the lighting on billboards and close petrol stations, except those on main highways, from 10pm to reduce fuel consumption.
The price of E20 gasohol would be reduced, to cut the consumption of petrol-based fuel. The government would also switch from using B5 diesel to B7 one to lower the use of pure diesel and increase the consumption of palm oil-based diesel.
