The government has dismissed claims that the Aranyaprathet border checkpoint in Sa Kaeo has reopened to allow Cambodian students to cross for schooling.
Officials confirmed that all border checkpoints remain fully closed under current measures. The Sa Kaeo Provincial Public Relations Office issued a warning on its official Facebook page, labelling the reports as "FAKE NEWS" and stating that no border checkpoints in the province have been reopened.
Government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek also urged the public not to believe the rumours.
Sa Kaeo provincial authorities subsequently issued an official statement reaffirming that the permanent Ban Khlong Luek–Poipet border crossing in Aranyaprathet district remains closed and that no order has been issued to reopen any checkpoint in the province.
The statement quoted Sa Kaeo governor Parinya Phothisat as saying residents should rely on official and credible sources to avoid misunderstandings.
Meanwhile, Pol Col Rung Thongmon, chief of Sa Kaeo Immigration Police, confirmed that all border checkpoints in the province remain "100% closed" under current security measures.
"There has been no reopening for the public, students or business operators to travel in and out as normal. Every crossing point remains shut," he said.
Immigration authorities explained that sightings of people crossing the border were related only to humanitarian or legally authorised cases and did not indicate a reopening of the checkpoint. Such cases include Thais requiring medical treatment.
