NEW DELHI: The govt on Friday established a coordination group to ensure holistic support for athletes and to address any issues that arise during the lead-up to the Paris Olympics. The Games will run from July 26 to August 11.
The group will address emergent situations which may arise during the Games necessitating immediate action for facilitation of and providing support to the contingent.
The group will comprise of the following: Kunal, joint secretary (sports), Anant Kumar, director (sports), director (Europe West), ministry of external affairs, Air Commodore Prashant Arya, Air Attache, Embassy of India at Paris, Cdr (retd) P K Garg, CEO, Target Olympics Podium Scheme (TOPS), SAI, Col Rakesh Yadav, Jt CEO, TOPS, SAI, Gagan Narang, Chef-de-Mission, Indian contingent for Paris Olympics, Shiva Keshvan, Dy. Chef-de-Mission, Indian contingent for Paris Olympics, Raghuram lyer, CEO, Indian Olympic Association (IOA), SPS Tomar, consultant, Dept of Sports, MYAS as convener.
The group will remain in touch with all the concerned stakeholders, namely, the Chef de-Mission and his team at Paris, the IOA officials, NSF officials, coaches, team managers, In charge of Medical Recovery Centre, Embassy of India at Paris, SAl officials, Reliance Foundation officials and Media Attache etc.
The group will address and quickly resolve the logistical/financial issues of the Indian contingent; liaison with media teams for athlete interviews/bytes as required; liaison with Embassy of India, Paris for all requirements received from various stakeholders at the games; take immediate decision on any other issues coming up during the Games and interact through hybrid mode as and when required till the conclusion of the Paris Olympics.
