Govt bungalow allocation row: HC allows Raghav Chadha's plea against trial court's decision to vacate interim order

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday granted AAP MP Raghav Chadha's plea, challenging the trial court's vacation of its interim order preventing the Rajya Sabha secretariat from evicting him from the bungalow allotted by the government.

The trial court's decision had cleared the decks for Chadha's eviction.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani has ruled that the trial court's order from April 18, which initially directed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat not to evict Chadha, is now back in effect.

Chadha had contested the trial court's decision from October 5, which had revoked the April order. The latest high court order states that Chadha cannot claim an absolute right to occupy the government bungalow throughout his entire tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP, even following the cancellation of the allotment.

Chadha's legal representative argued before the high court that the MP has received an eviction notice, and the eviction process is currently underway.

The Rajya Sabha secretariat had opposed his petition against the trial court's ruling.
