Government suspends all travel corridors for entry into the UK from today

All travel corridors for people arriving in England have been suspended from today.

Boris Johnson announced on Friday that anyone wishing to travel to the UK will have to abide by a number of rules to be allowed into the country.

During the press conference, Mr Johnson said that from 4am on Monday, January 18, anyone travelling into the UK must have proof of a negative Covid-19 test in the previous 72 hours.

Travel corridors were introduced back in the summer to allow people travelling from some countries with low numbers of coronavirus cases to come to the UK without having to quarantine on arrival.

Countries and territories could be taken off or added to the travel corridor list at any time.

Due to a surge in cases of the deadly virus, this is no longer the case.

If you arrive in England from anywhere outside the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man you will need to self-isolate for 10 days. This includes UK nationals returning home from travel abroad.

You must also provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result taken up to three days before departure to travel to England.

If you do not comply - and you do not have a valid exemption - your airline or carrier may refuse you boarding and you could be fined on arrival.

Travel corridors were suspended at 4am on January 18, 2021.
