The Scottish Government has asked questions regarding Glasgow City Council’s homeless services.
Local Government Minister MSP Aileen Campbell revealed at the Housing First Conference that Holyrood had raised concerns regarding the £2.6 million cuts to these services.
A spokesman from Ms Campbell’s office confirmed a letter had been sent to the local authority.
It comes after it was announced that a total of 10 projects from eight organisations will have their funding withdrawn from October this year.
It will see facilities that house homeless people closed, services removed and jobs put at risk.
The cuts come as the council said it is moving towards a Housing First approach, where people are given a tenancy with the support they need to deal with other problems they have in order to help them live in their own home.
The organisations affected, which have decades of experience dealing with homeless people, include Simon Community, Aspire, Talbot Association and SAMH.
Homeless campaigners say the Scottish Government should reverse these cuts.
Sean Clerkin, of the Scottish Tenants Association, said: “Glasgow City Council is cutting deeply into the homeless services.
“The Scottish Government must intervene to restore this budget and reverse these savage cuts made by the SNP administration.
“The bottom line is that the Scottish Government has got to take action.”
A local authority spokesman said they had not been made aware of any letter at this stage.
