The Home Office has sent one million text messages to passport holders in the UK who may need to renew their passports ahead of Brexit.
The message urges people to check their passports will be in accordance with new validity rules that will apply when travelling to most European countries in the event of a no deal Brexit.
Travellers will need to have at least six months left on their passport, while any extra months on a passport over 10 years may not count towards the 6 months needed.
A passport may have extra months if the holder renewed their previous passport before it expired, reports Belfast Live .
The message reminders are part of the government’s "Get Ready for Brexit" campaign and have been sent to those who provided their mobile number when they applied for their current passport.
However not everyone provides a mobile number and your contact details may have changed, so the Home Office are encouraging those who don't receive a text to also check.
If you do need to renew your passport, the process typically takes up to three weeks but may take longer.
