Government releases latest coronavirus statistics for Nottinghamshire

The latest weekly coronavirus figures have been released for Nottinghamshire.

The figures, for the seven days to November 23, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

These figures have been released by the government and Public Health England on Saturday, November 28.

Bassetlaw still has the highest infection rate in the county, standing at 281.8 with 331 new reported cases.

Next is Ashfield, currently sitting at a rate of 233.7 because of 299 new cases.

Mansfield, meanwhile, has recorded 240 new cases in the seven day period - its current infection rate is 219.6, according to the latest government data.

Newark and Sherwood has an infection rate of 205.8 and this is because of 252 new cases in the area.

Nottingham has recorded far more cases in the same period, 624, but has a lower infection rate per 100,000 people - at 187.4.

Gedling's infection rate stands at 172.2 and there have been 203 positive coronavirus tests by people living there.

Rushcliffe's rate is even lower still, coming in at 153.5. There have been 183 cases in the most recent seven day period.

Broxtowe has a rate of 140.3 - there have been 160 cases there - which means it has the lowest rate in Nottinghamshire.

Each area of Nottinghamshire will enter into tier 3 government restrictions on Wednesday, December 2.

Nationally, the Government said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 15,871 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,605,172.
