The Government has promised to ramp up testing for care home residents and staff with symptoms of Covid-19.
The move comes after a backlash of the handling of the crisis - as deaths in care facilities mount and staff say they are not being adequately equipped.
Many providers have also said that official figures on deaths do not match what they are seeing on the ground.
Currently, only the first five symptomatic residents in a care home setting are tested to provide confirmation of whether there is an outbreak.
But now, as well as current residents and staff who need testing, all patients discharged from hospital to a care home will be tested following reports that this is not happenin g .
This news comes after as a L iverpool care home continues to be hit by tragedy, with 16 residents sadly dying in just two weeks.
Oak Springs Care Home, in Wavertree, has been closed to visitors since March 19 in a bid to comply with government guidance and curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an appearance on Good Morning Britain, manager Andrea Lyon spoke of her sadness.
She said: "We paint a smile back on our faces and go back out and carry on with our jobs."
And today we have reported news that eight residents have sadly died at Green Heys Care Home in Crosby.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said he is "determined" to ensure that everyone needing a Covid-19 test should have access to one, with testing remaining a "key" part of the Government's coronavirus battle plan.
