Government officially update Level 5 rules amid 'imminent announcement'

The Government has officially update its rules online for a Level 5 lockdown after a meeting with the Chief Medical Officer.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar and Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan all held talks with Dr Tony Holohan this morning, where he outlined NPHET's case for a national lockdown.

The Cabinet is now expected to have a meeting to discuss NPHET's proposals.

If it agrees to the recommendation, this would represent a return to the strictest possible public health measures, similar to those seen in April and May.

And the Government regulations for Level 5 restrictions have since been updated on its website for the first time since September 23, ahead of an announcement which is expected later today.
