Government jet will not be sent to Syria to bring home Irish 'ISIS bride' Lisa Smith

Ireland's ISIS bride will not have the Government jet sent to Syria to take her home.

And there will be a "security assessment" of her to make sure she presents no serious risk, the Government has said.

It was reported earlier today that the jet service would be extended to Lisa Marie Smith and her two year old child to get them home from the warzone.

However, a Government spokesman confirmed to the Irish Mirror that this will not be happening.

Instead, other diplomatic channels will be used, including the possible help from other friendly States in the region.

Tanaiste Simon Coveney confirms Government will try bring 'ISIS bride' Lisa Smith back to Ireland

The Government spokesman told the Mirror that it would not be so simple to send the jet, "for starters, it's beyond its (the jet's) normal range," he said.

The Taoiseach then addressed the issue in the Dail too, saying that the safety of the two year old child is paramount, regardless of what the mother may have done.

He said: "She has a two year old child that is an Irish citizen and that child is an innocent child."
