Government graph shows Bristol's cases are dropping rapidly

A Government graph shows Bristol's coronavirus cases have dropped rapidly after last month's record surge.

Throughout November, our city had some of the highest infection rates in the country.

But a chart released by Public Health England reveals our city's cases are now lower than the start of October.

The depiction reveals Bristol's spike was at its worst just before we entered England's second lockdown at the beginning of November.

And over the past two weeks, infections have been falling steeply.

Our city's rate per 100,000 people now stands at 140.5, which puts us in 157th in the country.

This is still significantly above the South West region's rate of 82.4, but only slightly higher than England's rate of 148.7.

Bristol's Tier 3 status will be reviewed next week, when experts will be analysing our rate, hospital admissions and deaths.

No coronavirus fatalities were confirmed in Bristol or its neighbouring areas on December 7.
