Government buildings evacuated in blaze as Dublin Fire Brigade battle to calm flames

There were frightening scenes this morning in Dublin City as Government buildings were evacuated while Gardai dealt with a fire.

Kildare House was cleared by emergency services while two units including one turntable got down to work on Kildare Street.

Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene just after 11am after alarms were raised about the flames at Government buildings.

Firefighters battled with a small fire which they managed to put out rapidly despite the urgency of the incident.

Thankfully no injuries were reported and the crews were finished up before 12pm.

But on the ground, things looked a lot worse as worried by-standers watched on.

One eye-witness told Dublin Live: "It looked very worrying and scary.

"There were two units on the scene and nobody could get close to see what was going on."

A spokesman for Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Emergency services were called at 11:04am following reports of a fire in a government building on Kildare Street.

"On arrival, firefighters investigated and a small fire was quickly dealt with."

He continued: "No injuries were reported. "The incident concluded at 11:57am and all units have now left the scene."
