Government announce Brits will need three jabs for valid covid pass

The Health Secretary has announced people will soon need three doses of the vaccine to have a valid NHS covid pass.

Sajid Javid told the House of Commons today that people will no longer be classed as "fully vaccinated" unless they have had two main doses and a booster - as Mirror Online reports.

Mr Javid confirmed the change will come into force once every adult has had "a reasonable amount of time" to get jabbed.

The news comes amid the growing threat of the Omicron variant as Boris Johnson has warned of a "tidal wave" of cases across the country.

The first UK cases of Omicron were only confirmed on November 27 and the rapid spread has alarmed ministers and prompted a dramatic acceleration of the booster jab programme.

Boris Johnson announced last night that all adults in England, aged 18 and over, will be offered a coronavirus booster jab before the New Year.

In an address to the nation, the Prime Minister urged everyone eligible to "get boosted now".

Mr Javid addressed the target of offering every adult a chance to get jabbed with their booster by the end of the year.

He added: "That does not mean every single person necessarily can get that booster.

"It requires them to come forward and taken up that offer, as well as everything else going right in this huge expansion plan."

Earlier today government data revealed that 38 more people had died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Figures also showed that infections have increased by 54,661 in the last day.

Bookings for booster jabs will open for all adults aged 18 and over on Wednesday.
