Government aims for all NHS staff to be offered vaccine by middle of next month

England Health Secretary Matt Hancock says he hopes all NHS staff would be offered the vaccine in the next few weeks, possibly even sooner than the February 15 target.

He said there had been a record uptake in the flu vaccine among NHS staff this winter and that he hoped uptake of the Covid-19 vaccines will be “right at the top level”.

He told MPs: “We absolutely will ensure that all NHS staff are offered a vaccine in the coming weeks, I mean certainly by the 15th of February because they’re all in category two, and therefore that’s the target.

“I very much hope that the uptake amongst NHS staff will be right at the top level.”

He added: “They will all be offered a vaccine over the coming weeks. I hope we can get through all of category two, which includes all health and social care staff, sooner than 15th of February. But that’s the target that we’re committed to hit.”
