The Government is set to introduce Level Five restrictions nationwide from midnight on Wednesday.
In a meeting that lasted over three hours, the coalition partners signed off on a plan they hope will beat back the progress of Covid.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin is due to address the nation at 9pm, where he will announce the nationwide lockdown.
It is understood that the new lockdown, similar to the one we endured in April and May, will begin at midnight tomorrow.
At that stage, all pubs and restaurants will pull down the shutters and only a takeaway service will be permitted.
But there are some alterations to the plan, which, as we reported earlier, will see GAA inter-county championships to continue, along with horse racing and the Six Nations.
Schools will also remain open, while construction sites will be allowed to continue operating.
And all gyms, pools and leisure centres will be locked as the effort to beat Covid affects both work and play.
High Streets will empty as only essential businesses will be allowed remain open.
Restrictions on movement will also return, with people now only allowed stay within 5km of their home.
People can meet up with someone from one other household outdoors, as long as they live within 5km from each other and maintain social distancing.
