Gov. J.B. Pritzker calls on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign over sexual misconduct allegations

Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Wednesday Andrew Cuomo should resign after the release of a damning report that concluded the three-term New York Democratic governor sexually assaulted nearly a dozen women.

At an unrelated news conference Wednesday afternoon, Pritzker said “yes, Gov. Cuomo should resign” when asked about the fellow Democrat. Pritzker did not elaborate.

The Illinois governor joins a growing group of Democrats, including President Joe Biden and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who’ve called for Cuomo to resign since the release of findings from a nearly five-month investigation by the New York attorney general.

That investigation concluded that 11 women — both in and out of state government — said Cuomo touched them inappropriately, commented on their appearance or made suggestive comments.

“These interviews and pieces of evidence revealed a deeply disturbing yet clear picture: Gov. Cuomo sexually harassed current and former state employees in violation of federal and state laws,” New York Attorney General Letitia James said Tuesday.

In a taped response, Cuomo said he “never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances.”

“That is just not who I am and that’s not who I have ever been,” Cuomo said.
