To say there was massive outrage when Gotham Town shut its doors for a final time this year wouldn't be an overexagerration.
But if you were one of the many people left mourning the loss of the famous city centre bar which has since , get ready to put your dancing shoes on and turn that frown upside down as a new club night is launching in Newcastle which will play all the classics from the Gotham glory days.
A new club night called Casual - playing old school dance. indie, house and trance - will debut at the 02 Academy on Westgate Road on Saturday, October 26 which is the brainchild of former Gotham DJ Dean Paul Walton.
"The closure of Gotham upset a lot of Newcastle revellers and our 'Farewell To Gotham' night was a huge success with over 800 people coming along to say goodbye" said Dean.
"After a summer DJ'ing abroad I have decided to launch my own monthly club night in the main room at the O2 Academy and make sure that the students and 40 something crowd that used to love Gotham still have somewhere to dance and jump about to the music they love, on the last Saturday of each month."
"I have got a couple of other local DJ's on board with me, Rob Orton and Doog who are well known on the local scene, and we are going to be announcing some special guest slots in the months ahead.
"I just cannot wait to get back to Newcastle and give the public what they want."
*Tickets for 'Casual' launch night will go on general sale from Monday, September 2 from Ticketmaster.
