From the cover I knew this book was going to be about dogs, but how scary can dogs be? Reading the story, however, there were plenty of spooky surprises. The best part of the book is all the amazing pictures. I especially liked the portraits with the captions.
This story has a dog literary show, mysterious noises, odd footprints & disappearing food. Its up to Ada & her friends, ‘the attic club’, to investigate these strange goings on at Ghastly-Gorm.
My favourite character in the attic club is William because he can blend in with his surroundings which is something I would love to do and is also very handy when investigating. The monkeys in the book are also really funny and I would like my own trained pet monkey who would fetch me books at my command.
The most exciting part of the book is the literary dog show where there is lots of action and the mysteries are solved. In the dog show the dogs of famous authors have to compete in some odd rounds like jumping over a christmas tree and musical chairs which I found funny.
I didn’t like this book as much as the other Goth Girl books because I would have liked more clues to puzzle over before the mysteries are solved. My mum also had to explain who some of the authors were as they were writers of grown-up books. But I did find the book surprising and funny.
