Press Association photographer Owen Humphreys captured the stunning sunrise images at Tynemouth early this morning.
Early risers at the coast woke up to a breathtaking amber sky over the North Sea.
The ship in the pictures is the Olga bulker, a Liberian cargo ship capable of carrying more than 18,000 tonnes.
At this time of year, the sun starts to rise at around 4.30am so it takes some effort to witness beautiful scenes like this.
But if you've ever gone to the trouble of setting an early alarm to see it, you'll know it's well worth it.
The North East has seen sunny skies all weekend as a Saharan heatwave swept across the UK.
It's going to be cooler and a little more overcast at times this week but the mornings will be clear for the most part.
