Got Sainsbury's Nectar points? Don't spend them before the Double-Up 2019 event

If you use a Nectar card, you might want to hold off on spending your points for now.

That's because the ever-popular 'Double Up event' is coming and it will mean your points, which can be earned in stores including Sainsbury's and in Esso petrol stations, will soon be worth much more.

It means you can double the value of what you've saved up to spend on certain ranges, including gifts, toys, Christmas decorations and homeware, and last year the offer also applied to some cosmetics, skincare and fragrance products.

Here's the catch, we still don't know exactly when the event will take place as Sainsbury's is staying tight-lipped.

But last year it kicked off on October 29 online and November 5 in stores, and ran up until November 18 - so it could be soon.

So savvy shoppers are being advised not to waste their points now, with the new offer likely coming in the near future.

How does the Double-Up event work?

The way it works is that you exchange your points, in bundles of 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000.

You can do this at Sainsbury's Locals, Centrals & Sainsbury's petrol stations.

The points are exchanged for vouchers, 1,000 points equals £10, where it would normally only be worth £5.

You can then spend these vouchers on select items.

What can I spend the vouchers on?

Again, the full details haven't been released just yet, but here's what was covered last year - it's likely to be similar:

  • Tu Clothing
  • Electricals
  • Toys
  • Entertainment
  • Taste the Difference: Wine, Champagne, Sparkling, Sherry & Port
  • Homeware
  • Seasonal
  • Fragrance
  • Cosmetics
  • Skincare

What's the most I can earn?

Each Nectar Card can be used to claim up to £200 in vouchers.
