Gossip Girl's true identity was 'exposed' in episode one according to a superfan

It's been almost a decade since Gossip Girl was revealed to fans, but they're still on the lookout for glaring show clues.

The latest comes from TikTok user @ yussijuice2.0 who claims to have noticed that the creators hinted at Gossip Girl's true identity in the very first episode.

Cue spoilers...

Viewers were stunned to discover that Dan Humphrey, played by Penn Badgley, was the creator behind the gossip girl blog in the final episode of the series.

But was there signs of his true identity in the very first episode?

In the pilot episode of the show, the superfan noticed that Dan was actually shown 'signing off as Gossip Girl' as the voiceover is asking: "And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell".

Did you notice this? (yussijuicy2.0/Tiktok)

"They told us in episode one!!!" @yussijuicy2.0 posted along with the clip that has been viewed more than 2.5 million times.

Since being uploaded, the video has racked up almost 195,000 likes and 2,800 comments.

Whilst a number of fans were stunned by the revelation, a few people pointed out that there were a number of other scenes where Dan's true identity was hinted at, like when Serena is spotted at Grand Central station and Dan just so happens to be there too.

One person said: "YES I NOTICED THAT THE SECOND TIME I WATCHED IT," whilst another person said: "Uhhh I thought this was common knowledge."

However, the 'hint' in the opening scene could just be a coincidence as the creators of the show revealed that they only decided that Dan was Gossip Girl much later on in the series.

This was, according to fans, because the original Gossip Girl (Eric) was leaked to the public, so they had to change it.
