
A MURDER charge has been laid after a man allegedly stabbed on the Central Coast last Sunday died in a Newcastle hospital.
Detectives were called in after a 26-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his chest and face at a property in Slim Close at Watanobbi about 11.30am on Sunday.
Paramedics treated the man, who was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Police confirmed he had later died.
Tuggerah Lakes Police District and the State Crime Command Homicide Squad began investigating the circumstances.
They searched a Gorokan property about 6.40pm on Wednesday, arresting a 28-year-old man.
He was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with murder.
The 28-year-old was refused bail to face Wyong Local Court on Thursday.

Separately, Lake Macquarie police have charged a man after seizing drugs from a Bonnells Bay property.
Proactive Crime Team officers searched the Thornbill Drive property about 1pm on Wednesday.
It is alleged officers found 3.5 kilograms of cannabis, 62.4 grams of amphetamine, three grams of LSD and 16 grabs of tablets believed to be ecstasy, as well as more than $6000 in cash.
The property's occupant, a 40-year-old man, was arrested.
He was taken to Toronto police station and charged with supply prohibited drug and goods in custody.
The 40-year-old was refused bail and will appear in Toronto Local Court on Thursday.
