Gorgie Road fire: Four-storey building evacuated after early-morning blaze breaks out

Fire crews rushed to the scene of a blaze in a four-storey building on Gorgie Road early on Wendesday morning.

Teams were called to the ground floor property, a business premises, shortly before 4am. Three fire appliances and one height appliance rushed to the scene, and crews battled the flames.

Adjacent properties were evacuated and the fire was put out at around 4.30am. There were no casualties.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 3.56am on Wednesday, November 13 to reports of a fire within a business premises on Gorgie Road, Edinburgh.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and one height appliance to the scene, where crews wearing Breathing Apparatus extinguished a fire within the ground-floor of a four-storey building.

“Adjacent properties were evacuated, and there were no reported casualties.

Crews ventilated the building, and thereafter left the scene at 4.47am.”
