'Gordon Taylor is a dinosaur': Vinnie Jones joins growing calls for PFA chief to quit

Gordon Taylor is facing more calls to stand down as chief executive of the PFA.

An open letter calling for change at the players’ union has been backed by more than 200 current and former footballers including Danny Murphy, Ian Wright and Robbie Savage.

The letter supports the call by PFA chairman Ben Purkiss for an independent review of the union.

Former Wimbledon player Vinnie Jones today backed calls for the PFA to modernise and described Taylor as a “dinosaur”.

Jones told talkSPORT: “He has been there far too long. [His] £2.5million a year [salary], it is just a joke. I think a younger bloke has to come in now.

“This is not before time. He should have gone when that betting scandal came out a few years ago.

“For me it’s like a kangaroo court, he’s been running it through fear over these years and he’s had his little soldiers, but it’s modern times now and he’s got to go.

“He’s a dinosaur – get out!”
