Gordon Strachan set for shock return to Celtic with ex-Hoops boss taking up 'advisor' role

Former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is set to return to the club in an advisory role - with the veteran coach due to start work with the Hoops as soon as tomorrow.

The ex-Scotland boss has been in talks with the Parkhead club's hierarchy, according to the Daily Record, and has agreed to take up the reins as an advisory role and will oversee control of the club’s strategic planning and youth development.

The 64-year-old was previously first-team manager at Celtic, winning three consecutive Premiership titles as well as reaching the last-16 of the Champions League.

As well as the national side, Strachan has taken charge of Middlesbrough and recently returned to Scottish football at first club Dundee where he has been working as technical director at Dens Park for the last two years.

Despite his arrival, it's thought Strachan won't have any say over first-team affairs or how manager Ange Postecoglou takes charge of the club's senior side.
