The grandson of Gordon Strachan has been handed a place on Dundee's bench for this afternoon's Betfred Cup clash.
18-year-old Luke Strachan is a substitute for their match against Peterhead and if the teenager comes on an intriguing family fact could come to fruition.
The teenager would be the third generation of Strachans to pull on the dark blue jersey in a competitive fixture.
The club's new technical director famously started his career at Dundee , while his son Gavin had a short loan spell at Dens in 1999.
And now Luke is on the verge of adding to the family heritage.
The youngster signed for the club's development side last month.
Luke had previously been on the books at Peterborough United, where his dad is currently assistant manager.
Gordon - who played for Aberdeen and Manchester United, as well as managing Celtic and Scotland - returned to Dundee this week.
In his role as technical director he will be focusing on the club's academy structure, as well as being on hand to offer James McPake advice.
He was quick to point out he would not be interfering in the manager's job.
"If James needs me I'm there," he said. "But only if he needs it. Hopefully he doesn't need me at all.
"I'll be in the background well away from things. There will be games when I'm not even there, I'll have other things to do.
"I'll not be around the dressing room, absolutely not."
