The return of Gordon Strachan to Celtic in a consultancy role will be reviewed by the SFA's professional game board over fears it breaches strict rules surrounding dual interest.
The 64-year-old Dundee technical director is heading back to Parkhead as an advisor with a remit to oversee the youth and women's sides – without giving up his Dens Park remit.
The Daily Mail state neither made the SFA aware about the unusual arrangement and the governing body will now look to see if the double role breaches Article 13.
The rule states any person "involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management or administration of a club' can not be involved with another club at the same time unless they have "the prior written consent of the board".
The article is principally in place to deal with shareholding issues that arise and Mike Mulraney and his eight-man game board panel will discuss Strachan's return to Celtic amid his current role with Dundee.
It comes after Ange Postecoglou admitted he had held discussions with Strachan before his return to Parkhead was rubber-stamped.
He said: "I have met Gordon and he is a very passionate football person which I kind of like.
"The information I have had is that we are keen to tap into his knowledge of the club in terms of some of the structures around the club, particularly around the academy and women's football which I think is really important infrastructure-wise.
"But again, how much that comes on my radar at the moment, this is probably the first time I have thought about it."
