Gordon Strachan reveals the impact that Elland Road crowd had on Leeds United's epic title win

He was one of the stars of Leeds United's famous First Division title win in 1992.

And now Gordon Strachan has revealed the role that United supporters played in that momentous success.

The Scot says the Elland Road crowd were vociferous in their support for Howard Wilkinson's side.

They famously secured the title ahead of Manchester United in just their second season back in the top flight.

Speaking to the BBC's Football Focus as part of a special feature to mark the club's centenary celebrations, Strachan spoke about the impact of Wilkinson and in particular the Leeds fans.

"We had all these guys come together with all different ideas on how to play the game of football," Strachan told Mark Clemmit.

"He (Wilkinson) just got us together and asked 'do you want to win? Because this is the way you win as a group in this league.'

"It just seemed that whole year that the players, management and the crowd were just swept along.

"I do believe it was like 40,000 playing against 11 every time we played - it really was."
