Gordon's behind the scenes response, Pickford mocked again and Trippier's demand in Newcastle win

Newcastle United weren't at their brilliant best but turned on the style in the second-half at Goodison Park to beat Everton 4-1. The result has all-but cemented the Magpies' place in the Champions League for next season, while Sean Dyche's side are staring relegation in the face.

Newcastle took the lead, against the run of play in the first-half, as Callum Wilson prodded home from close range. Joelinton made it 2-0 after the interval following a fine Joe Willock assist before Wilson added his second shortly after.

Dwight McNeil saw his corner evade everyone, including Nick Pope, to make it 3-1. But seconds later the three goal advantage was restored as Jacob Murphy tapped one in from close range after a stunning solo run by Alexander Isak.

Here are the moments you may have missed.

Gordon enjoys the win

Anthony Gordon was always in for a frosty reception as he returned to Goodison Park for the first time since his tumultuous exit in January. The winger was booed upon arrival on Merseyside and the insults continued as he warmed up on the touchline throughout the game.

Gordon was brought off the bench in the second-half, playing the closing stages with his every touch jeered by the few home supporters who had stayed put until the end of the game. After a decade at the Toffees and only a few months at Newcastle, you could imagine the youngster may decide against celebrating after the final whistle.

However, on his way back to the dressing room, Gordon was caught pumping his fists and smiling widely after another fine result for the Magpies.

Newcastle fans made their feelings clear on Gordon throughout, chanting his name and applauding him at every turn. His Tyneside career hasn't started as he would have liked but he is certainly admired by the Geordie faithful already.

Familiar Pickford jibe spotted

Gordon wasn't the only player to receive boos from the Goodison Park crowd as Jordan Pickford experienced his usual barrage of insults from Newcastle fans.

The Everton stopper was taunted, as per usual, by the travelling support, who consistently aimed chants in his direction. There was also a familiar prop on display on Merseyside as one section of Newcastle fans waved an inflatable dinosaur around all evening.

Pickford made a stunning save to deny Joe Willock during the game but was powerless to conceding four against the Magpies.

Trippier responds to Longstaff problem

Kieran Trippier again showed his leadership qualities during the 4-1 win after shaking off a first-half injury scare. The right-back wasn't the only player who needed treatment during the game, with Sean Longstaff suffering a knock to the ankle after a late tackle by James Tarkowski.

VAR decided against awarding a penalty for the challenge and Longstaff was forced to try and soldier on. Moments after the initial tackle, the midfielder was on the deck again to the anger of Everton players and their fans.

Trippier wasn't happy with Longstaff either and wanted him to either leave the pitch and get treatment or ask to come off for good as he tried to shake off the problem in the 65th minute.

Longstaff waved away his captain's demand but was replaced by Alexander Isak less than 10 minutes later.
