Gordon Ramsay will be 'the old man on TV' as fear of failure keeps him going

Gordon Ramsay has said that he will keep cooking on TV until he's an "old man".

The Scots chef is set to make his 21st series of Hell’s Kitchen in the USA and said he believes the series has no shelf life.

The 55-year-old has a chain of successful restaurants and has presented a number of TV shows, including Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Ramsay’s Best Restaurant and Next Level Chef, writes The Mirror.

But the father-of-five's BBC game show Bank Balance wasn't as successful as he would have hoped and it was axed after just one series because the ratings were so bad.

Speaking about what drives him to continue, Gordon said: “It’s always about being better than what we’ve already done, and constantly pushing the envelope.

“I don’t sit and think ‘We’ve made it’ or ‘We’re financially secure. Why work so hard?’

“I need that jeopardy. I need the danger of it possibly not working. And I need to be pushed, because that’s when you’re going to get me at my best," he told the Thrillist.

Gordon explained that he was "consumed" in the business in the early 40s but started becoming "super strong and fit" when he did his first Ironman aged 43.

Describing himself as "fit as a fiddle" he boasted he could 'go for another 30 seasons', joking "do not underestimate the power of an old man".

Gordon 's five children could be worth millions in the next few years if they capitalise on certain branding opportunities, according to a PR executive.

The outspoken star has become one of the best-known chefs and TV personalities over the last two decades, reportedly having an estimated net worth of around £145 million.

And as some of his children with wife Tana Ramsay, 47, begin pursuing their own careers, they could also be worth millions through various lucrative ventures in the future.

The couple are parents to Megan Ramsay, 23, as well as twins Holly Ramsay and Jack Ramsay, both 22. Their two youngest kids are Tilly Ramsay, 20, and Oscar Ramsay, 2.

Tilly, 20, recently made a name for herself on Strictly Come Dancing.

Popular culture expert Nick Ede, the founder of East of Eden PR agency, spoke to The Sun about the opportunities that could be available to the siblings.

He said: "[They] are certainly going in the same direction as the Beckhams and the Kardashians. They are in the perfect position to poise themselves for fame and fortune."

The siblings could be "worth millions" if they take advantage of business opportunities, he added, and following in their parents footsteps "they will be the ones to watch in 2022."
