July 16--South Loop fashion designer Tommy Walton served the "MasterChef" judges dirty rice jambalaya, and that's when Wednesday's episode got a little, um, dirty.
"I want to wake up with you," judge Gordon Ramsay told Walton as he tasted the jambalaya with green bamboo rice, andouille sausage, chicken and shrimp. "Not with you. (Bleep). God. ... I want to wake up the next day remembering how good you can cook."
Walton's dish, which was inspired by his family's Louisiana roots, was so good he won his first mystery box challenge and his recipe will appear in the September issue of Family Circle magazine. Walton, 53, was also given the chance to pick the two main ingredients the 10 home cooks had to use in the elimination challenge.
Walton selected peanut butter and jelly over the other two duos of ham and pineapple or tomato and basil.
"It's like being some evil queen on a throne," Walton said.
Walton, who wore a beaded collar, savored the power and control because he didn't have to cook in the challenge and he had the chance to save two cooks from elimination.
Walton tried to save California events manager Claudia Sandoval, his partner in last week's episode, and dishwasher sales rep Nick Nappi, but Sandoval didn't take his offer because she wanted to show off her skills. Nappi took the offer and moved into the top 10.
Wisconsin pie-maker Sara Zacek didn't make the cut because her tart didn't taste like peanut butter.
The winner gets $250,000 and a cookbook deal. "MasterChef" airs 7 p.m. Wednesdays on Fox.
