Gordon Ramsay's pal slams 'hurtful campaign' by neighbours and says he's done nothing wrong

The drama around celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's decision to self-isolate in one of his Cornwall pads has escalated as some locals continue to fume.

Gordon, with wife Tana, and kids Meghan, Jack, Holly, Tilly and Oscar, are waiting out the coronavirus outbreak in a £4 million house, part of the family's £11 million Cornwall property portfolio.

This drew the anger of some locals, with a recent accusation claiming Gordon and family might have carried the deadly bug to the area.

A neighbour told Mirror Online that there's concern for the elderly in the area, and slammed celebs who have fled to their second homes.

However, a friend of Gordon insists the star has done nothing wrong.

They told us: "The family see Cornwall as their family home, when the kids are back from uni and Gordon back from filming around the world, it's where they spend all their family time together.

"They've been spending time there for 10 years and [eldest son] Jack actually lives in the house there full time too.

"Most of their neighbours are so welcoming and they love being part of the community.

"They've followed the government advice along with the rest of the country since they arrived on March 20th and the campaign against them is hurtful and unnecessary at a time when we should all be coming together and supporting each other."

Among Gordon's critics was one who worried the family has brought the virus with them to Cornwall.

They wrote: "Don't you realise that by doing that you've possibly brought the virus with you and because Cornwall is not your main residence, if you and your family get sick you will place yet more strain on an already fragile infrastructure."

Meanwhile, on a Facebook group called You Shouldn't Be Here which names celebs and wealthy families who've moved amid the pandemic, another allegedly wrote: "The big s*** and his family should take himself and his family the hell out of Cornwall."

A third is said to have penned: "Wealthy second homers think making a few quid means they are immune from the virus and any rules.

"They are arrogant at the best of times, this has shown how bad some of them are."
