Gordon Ramsay's neighbours accuse him of putting elderly at risk by fleeing to Cornwall

Gordon Ramsay's neighbours in Cornwall have claimed the star put the area's elderly population at risk by fleeing to his holiday home there.

Mirror Online exclusively revealed Ramsay had whisked his family away to one of their three holiday homes so they could spend the coronavirus isolation period in Cornwall.

Locals living close to the house where Ramsay is holed up told us about their concerns for their vulnerable neighbours in the area.

The celebrity chef's move has sparked an outcry among the residents, who have accused him of setting a bad example by "running off" to his country homes

One neighbour told Mirror Online: "There are a lot of elderly people down here - it's an elderly population, the average age is 65 to 85, with a lot of people living alone.

"It's a scary time. I think it's up to celebrities to set a good example, not run off to their country homes."

The Mirror has approached Gordon Ramsay's representatives for comment.

Gordon's neighbour also voiced fears about a lot of second home owners - like the chef - coming to the area in waves after the coronavirus outbreak began.

They expressed their fears over only having one hospital in the area.

"I don't know how long he's been there, or if he came down after the restrictions, but a lot of second home owners have been coming to the area," they told us.

"We only have one hospital. At the moment there a low number of cases [of coronavirus] here.

"We live in a spacious area, so second home owners have decided to come here even though MPs have asked them to stay away.

"At Gordon's house - there's a fleet of cars outside, Range Rovers, Land Rovers - they're all outside."
