Gordon Ramsay has joked that a ‘massive bag’ of onions were next to him as he was spotted crying at his daughter Tilly’s performance on Strictly Come Dancing last night.
The controversial TV chef watched on proudly as his 19-year-old daughter danced her heart out with her partner Nikita Kuzmin to Yes Sir! That’s My Baby by Firehouse Five Plus Two.
And after a career of making chefs cry in the kitchen, it was Gordon’s turn to fight away the tears as the BBC cameras panned over to him following the performance.
His reaction was even spotted by Strictly host Tess Daly, who told Tilly that Gordon must have been “so proud” of her.
The official Strictly Twitter account also pointed it out, as they shared a clip of him of him crying over social media.
“Awwww Gordon Ramsay’s been peeling onions in the #Strictly Ballroom”, the account captioned the video.
Gordon took to Twitter shortly after to tell his 7.4 million followers how proud he was of his daughter.
Sharing the post from the Strictly account, he added: “There was a massive bag of them next to me. What an amazing performance tonight Tills…so proud! Voting is now open Gx #strictly.”
The judges’ comments were more than positive about Tilly’s performance last night with Craig Revel Horwood admitting that he was "nervous" because Gordon was in the audience.
Craig said: "I really and truly loved that, the energy was fantastic, I think you're fantastic! Brilliant!”
Motsi Mabuse added: "Well done!"
And head judge Shirley Ballas described her as a "powerhouse" and congratulated Tilly as she said she was "not expecting that".
After she got her breath back, Tilly said she's had a great time. She told Claudia: "It's been the best week and I never thought I would be able to have done that a couple of weeks ago.
"It was something that I didn't love but my favourite phrase is, 'get comfortable with the uncomfortable'," she added.
