Gordon Ramsay’s Bar and Grill: Chef opens unannounced steak restaurant on former Maze Grill site

Gordon Ramsay has opened a steak joint next door to his restaurant Lucky Cat – and went almost undetected while doing so.

Following the highly anticipated and controversial opening earlier this year of his Mayfair Asian restaurant, Hot Dinners reports that Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill is now open to the public in the building next door.

The Bar and Grill is situated in the former site of fellow Gordon Ramsay restaurant Maze Grill on Grosvenor Square. The space is adjacent to Lucky Cat, which itself took over the space formerly occupied by the chef's once-Michelin-starred Maze restaurant.

Describing itself as a “stylish yet informal all day restaurant”, the new Bar and Grill’s menu “takes inspiration from iconic American grills”, according to its social media.

The pretty unsurprising roster includes a heavy emphasis on rare breed steaks, served alongside crowd-pleasing dishes including smashed avocado with sweet potato crisps, beef Wellington and a vegetarian “Truffle Shuffle” burger featuring Truffle Tremor cheese and truffle aioli.

The all-day menu also includes bottomless brunch, Sunday roast and a kids menu.

The new location is Ramsay’s second restaurant to open in London this the year, following the launch of Lucky Cat this spring. Billed at one point as an “authentic Asian Eating House”, the opening was plagued by allegations of cultural appropriation.

Lucky Cat then went on to receive a mixed critical response, including just a two-star review from the Evening Standard’s food critic Fay Maschler.

Gordon Ramsay’s Bar and Grill is now open at 10-13 Grosvenor Square, W1K 6JP. For more information, visit gordonramsayrestaurants.com
