Gordon Ramsay on the hunt for participants for new BBC show

Gordon Ramsay needs contestants for his new BBC show - do you have what it takes?

According to reports, the new BBC One cookery contest has been likened to a culinary 'Apprentice'.

The chef, known for his fiery personality and love of expletives, is searching for the "country's most exciting and innovative new food and drink entrepreneurs" in the show, report Coventry Live.

It is something a bit different for Ramsay, who has most recently been seen accompanied by Gino D'Acampo and Fred Sirieix on ITV's Road Trip.

He said: "The future of our food industry has never been more exciting.

"I can't wait to search across the country, unearthing some of Britain's most entrepreneurial talent.

"I've spent the last 21 years at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay nurturing, supporting and mentoring some of Great Britain's greatest chefs and that's truly why I think investing in the next generation of talented individuals is so important!"

The show, named Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars, will consist of 8 episodes, with 12 candidates aiming to come out on top.

As well as being the host, Ramsay will also be executive producer, alongside Lisa Edwards and Sharon Powers for Studio Ramsay.

The show, commissioned by BBC director of content Charlotte Moore, entertainment chief Kate Phillips and commissioner Jo Wallace, will be produced by Joe Wildman, with Ben Archard directing.
