Gordon Ramsay 'forgets Scottish roots' on TV quiz show sending Scottish Twitter into meltdown

Gordon Ramsay has left fans in uproar as the chef appeared to ditched his Scottish roots during the latest episode of new TV show.

The Scots TV chef recently launched his new BBC gameshow 'Gordon Ramsay's Bank Balance', where contestants have the chance to win up to £100,000.

Gordon, who was born in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, left viewers up north disgruntled during Wednesday's episode after throwing his support behind English football.

During a quiz question on the 1966 World Cup, Gordon said it was "the only time we won it" in reference to England scooping the trophy.

However, angry viewers blasted the chef for ditching his heritage - and one even accused him of "forgetting his Scottish roots".

Fans took to social media to vent their frustration, with one writing: "Gordon Ramsay just said '1966 is the only time we won the World Cup' I was sure he was Scottish!"

Another wrote: "FFS....Gordon Ramsay just said “1966, the only time WE won the World Cup.....” Has someone moved Johnstone, Renfrewshire to England?"

A third commented: "#BankBalance with @GordonRamsay when did he become English saying 1966 when we won the World Cup."

A fourth said: "Only time "we" only won the world cup Gordon?? Born in Johnstone then lost your way."

It comes after Gordon angered locals in Falkirk after calling the town a "s***hole" on national TV.

The Multi-Michelin starred chef, who's well known for his potty mouth, slated the area during an episode of the new BBC One quiz show.

Bank Balance saw a contestant duo mistakingly name Falkirk as one of five cities in Scotland.

It was then the show host told them that he was born in Scotland, and that, "Falkirk is not a city. It’s a s***hole, I swear to God.”

The cheeky jibe hasn't gone down too well though, with many people blasting him on Facebook and Twitter.

One person said: "we don't want you here anyway, yer foods s****."

Another wrote: "How dare he, it's not that bad. Pump some cash into the town if you think it's that bad then ya tosser."
