Gordon Ramsay divides fans with recipe of toast and 'bacon jam' that contains coffee

Gordon Ramsay has divided fans with his latest breakfast recipe of toast complete with 'bacon jam' that also contains coffee.

The Scots TV chef who often joins other chefs to praise or criticises their food on Tik Tok, released his new recipe to mixed views.

After asking "Ready to change your toast game this week? My bacon jam toast recipe will do the trick", Gordon showed off his latest creation.

The Hells Kitchen chef started by slicing some sourdough bread, and adding a slab of butter in a pan.

He then goes on to steep the bread in the butter in the frying pan, and separately fries bacon and shallots.

Gordon then caramelises the shallots and bacon with heapfuls of brown sugar, maple syrup and - coffee.

He simmers it all together then spreads the bacon jam on the toast, along with soft scrambled eggs, chives and salt.

The completed dish looks extremely appetising but not everyone felt like tasting it.

One said: "Brown sugar doesn't go along with bacon."

Another said: " First Chilli jam and now this... Hayaa what next. Fish n chip jam?"

Someone else wrote: "That should get your diabetes and cholesterol going for the day. Except for the nice burger you made you have been doing a lot of excessive sweet and greasy things. How about seeing something a little healthier."

Another added: "I'm not spending an hour and a half making bacon jam. Just gimme the damn bacon. Simple, fresh, yes? Oh my god!"

A third remarked: "This is both more calorific and less tasty than a bacon sandwich."

Gordon was criticised earlier this month after serving a "tiny" portion of lamb as part of a £120-a-head menu.
