Gordon Hayward exits game vs. Hawks due to injury, ruled out

Gordon Hayward suffered an injury in the Boston Celtics’ early Saturday afternoon matchup with the Atlanta Hawks after running into John Collins on a screen in the first quarter. Barley over a minute into his appearance, Hayward exited after the collision and was ruled out by the team before halftime with a strained neck.

This is Hayward’s second injury in just under a month, rolling his right ankle in a workout with Celtics teammate Semi Ojeleye during the NBA All-Star break.

Hayward missed minimal time with his last injury and that could be the same case with the neck injury. However, if he also suffered a concussion on the play, then it’s a different issue and could lead to more time missed if Hayward is in the NBA concussion protocol.
