Gordon, Gino and Fred Go Greek fans saddened by ITV announcement

Fans of Gordon, Gino and Fred Go Greek are thrilled the show is back, but have been left disappointed by the length of the series.

Their Greek trip will return on Monday October 4 - for its second and final instalment.

After sampling some of the tastiest fare the Greek islands produce, Gordon Ramsay, Gino D'Acampo and Fred Sirieix head to the Greek capital Athens in a vintage VW campervan.

Highlights include a souvlaki showdown, racing in an ancient Olympic stadium, a visit to an award-winning bio-dynamic vineyard, downing liquid Greek salad cocktails in one of the world's top bars, and visiting beekeeping nuns, Birmingham Mail reports.

Viewers are keen for more, and have rushed to comment.

One fan tweeted: "I wish Gordon, Gino & Fred was just a continuous series, love them three together."

Another said: "Best programme on tele - after Gogglebox."

One woman tweeted: "One of my favourite programmes. I WISH it was on all year round. The best trio", to which Gordon Ramsay replied: "I don’t think I could handle a year with @Ginofantastico & @fredsirieix1 !!"

The celebrity chefs explored the Greek islands during the first episode, which aired this Monday, but their next stop is Athens.

Known as the birthplace of democracy and the cradle of western civilisation, but the boys discover it's also the place where high-concept cuisine originated and is still being re-invented.

So, naturally, they'll be sampling some local specialities as they take part in a souvlaki showdown, visit an award-winning bio-dynamic vineyard, sample liquid Greek salad cocktails and even meet bee-keeping nuns.

There will also be time for some non-foodie antics as Gordon challenges Gino and Fred to race around the Panathenaic Stadium.
