Gordon Elliott to train Classic Getaway after he's sold for record-equalling €625,000

Another big-money purchase is on its way to Gordon Elliott's yard after Classic Getaway was bought for a record-equalling €625,000 on Thursday.

The four-year-old was purchased by Tom Malone for an existing owner with the Co Meath trainer.

Classic Getaway won a Borris House maiden in very impressive fashion late last month and he looks very exciting for the future.

The £570,000 paid for him at the Goffs UK December P2P Sale at Yorton Farm on Thursday equalled the record price for a point-to-pointer at public auction following JP McManus' purchase of Jonbon, a brother to Douvan, five weeks ago.

It's been a busy few weeks for auctions, with Cheltenham Festival winner Laurina being sold for €290,000 at Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Apple's Jade was sold by Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud to trainer Gordon Elliott on behalf of Noel and Valerie Moran's Bective Stud for €530,000 last Thursday.
