Gordon Banks save against Pele: Was this the greatest stop of all time?

Gordon Banks will forever be remembered for his iconic save to deny Pele at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.

Banks, who died at the age of 81 on Tuesday, is widely regarded as one of the best keepers of all time and his stop to deny the Brazilian great remains one of the most famous in football history.

After producing the save, the World Cup winner himself accepted his 1966 heroics had been overshadowed. He said: "They won't remember me for winning the World Cup, it'll be for that save.

"That's how big a thing it is. People just want to talk about that save."

And speaking after Banks's death on Tuesday, former England team-mate Sir Bobby Charlton said of the save: "Even though I was on the pitch and have seen it many times since, I still don’t know how he saved that header from Pele."

But was it the greatest stop of all time? Have your say in our poll below...
