GOP Lawmaker Ridiculed for Pushing the 'Big, Beautiful Bill' Because It's 'As Good As We're Going to Get': 'Not How This Should Work'

A Republican lawmaker has drawn ire from social media users after stating that he supports President Donald Trump's "one big, beautiful" tax and spending bill because there are no better alternatives.

Ohio Representative Jim Jordan appeared on Newsmax's Newsline on Wednesday in conversation with host Bianca de la Garza, where he explained his support for the tax and spending bill.

"I think we probably got as good of a product as we're going to get, and again, I think it's good legislation. The other thing I would point out is politics is like sports. Momentum matters, and right now all the momentum is on our side," he said.

"I mean, the President has secured the border, we had this amazing operation in Iran... We're on a roll and now we're going to stop this legislation which, again, lets families keep more of their money. I think we've got to be careful about that, I think it's best if we just pass this and get moving and keep moving on the things we told the voters that we're going to do," he added.

Social media users took to online platforms to mock Jordan for arguing that the GOP tax and spending bill was the best possible option.

"My god. This is [not] how this should work. Not even close," said one user.

"That's one hell of a work ethic we have among our career politicians," said another.

"There's a ringing endorsement," added a third.

"'Well, it could be worse.' is a really dumb reason to pass the bill," noted a fourth.

"What he really means is 'we'd better quit while we're behind, before this thing gets any worse,'" joked another.
