A goose left at taxi driver stunned after it smashed through the vehicle’s window and landed on the passenger seats.

Police shared an image showing the bird standing on the back seat in the back of the cab, surrounded by shards of glass.

Officers in Nottingham were called out to the bizarre incident in the Dunkirk area of the city.

Taxi driver Nayyar Tabasam said he had just dropped off a passenger when he heard "this big crashing sound".

He turned around to find the goose in the back of his car.

"I thought somebody had thrown something at the car for a start so I slowed down to see if I could see anyone around but there was no-one," he told the BBC.

"It was a shock at the time, I didn't see anything as the goose was coming from the side and it made a lot of noise."

Radford Road Police, sharing an image of the goose in question, tweeted: “we had to see it to believe it.”

“Goose was taken to the vets & unfortunately the taxi had to repair the damage.”

In the same tweet, it joked that the goose may have been trying to get a ride to the Nottingham Goose Fair.
