Goon dupes oil millers in garb of govt supplier, held in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: A team of Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday arrested a member of a notorious gang from Kundari Rakabganj for impersonating as government approved suppliers and duping owners of mills processing grains and cooking oil.

The accused had made lakhs of rupees by selling the oil to shop owners at a lower MRP.

The accused, Dinesh Kumar Mishra of Gorakhpur, was staying in Rajajipuram.

The team recovered 171 canisters of oil worth Rs 5 lakh, a mobile phone, two Aadhaar cards, Rs 920 in cash, PAN card and debit cards from his possession. DySP, STF, Lal Pratap Singh, said the accused disclosed that he and his aide Vikas Tiwari used to prepare fake GST papers and e-way bills to usurp the goods from the company. They later used to destroy the SIM of the phone number they used to contact a victim.

He confessed that they used to store the goods at an isolated place and later used to sell them in the market at a lower MRP. The accused came on police radar after he duped the owner of Jadgdamba Edible Oil Mill in Kannauj of 821 canisters of mustard oil The accused had also duped a flour mill owner in Sandila, an oil mill owner and refined oil mill owners in Kanpur and a few others.

STF officials said the accused used to get contact details of the mill owners from India Mart website. “The miscreants posed as government approved suppliers and took a grace period of six to seven days for the payment, saying they would get paid from the government a week after supplying the goods. To win the confidence, they used to pay a small amount as advance and give post- dated cheques for the remaining amount. After taking the goods, they used to delink themselves from the victims,” the DySP added.
