Google has announced a $50 million commitment to train more than 300,000 workers in construction and technical jobs such as electrical work, plumbing and manufacturing amid a growing labour shortage.
The funding will support training programmes across more than 20 states, working with 14 labour unions and four trade and contractor associations.
“America’s digital economy relies on our physical infrastructure and the electricians, pipefitters, welders, manufacturing workers and more who build and maintain it,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a post on X.
