Google’s new feature makes it MUCH easier to hide your location history

In the hopes of making it easier for users to control their location history, Google has announced that it’s launching a new feature.

The feature allows users to auto-delete their Location History and activity data.

In a blog about the feature, Marlo McGriff and David Monsees, Product Managers at Google, explained: “You can already use your Google Account to access simple on/off controls for Location History and Web & App Activity, and if you choose - to delete all or part of that data manually.

“In addition to these options, we’re announcing auto-delete controls that make it even easier to manage your data.”

The new controls allow users to choose a time limit for how long they want to keep their activity data - either three or eight months (Google)

The new controls allow users to choose a time limit for how long they want to keep their activity data - either three or eight months.

Any data older than that will then automatically be deleted on an ongoing basis.

Mr McGriff and Mr Monsees added: “We work to keep your data private and secure, and we’ve heard your feedback that we need to provide simpler ways for you to manage or delete it.”

The new feature will roll out in the coming weeks.
