Google’s Most Expensive AI Plan Is Here: What You Need to Know

Google recently hosted its I/O 2025 event, where the company unveiled its most premium AI subscription plan for power users. This plan targets professionals who need high-performance filmmaking, coding, and research tools. It’s called the Google AI Ultra and costs $249.99 per month. The best part about this plan is that it will also get unreleased tech like Veo 3, a next-gen video generation system.

This is Google’s most expensive plan and is already available to users in the U.S. However, to sweeten the deal further, the company is offering 50% off to all early adopters for the first three months. This brings the initial cost down to just $125 per month.

What’s Inside AI Ultra?

The subscription includes:

  • Gemini: This is the most capable iteration of Google’s Gemini app, with higher usage ceilings for deep research and coding. It also includes Veo 2 support for advanced video generation; however, access to the upcoming Veo 3 and Deep Think reasoning mode is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
  • Flow: This is Google’s AI filmmaking tool, powered by DeepMind models. It allows users to build cinematic scenes using text prompts. AI Ultra unlocks 1080p video generation, detailed camera control, and early Veo 3 access.
  • Whisk: This visual ideation tool now offers expanded Animate features in AI Ultra, enabling 8-second videos from image prompts.
  • NotebookLM: Higher usage limits and improved model performance will roll out later this year for subscribers using this note-taking assistant for study or research.
  • Gemini in Apps and Chrome: Gemini will be integrated into Chrome, offering real-time assistance based on web page context. The AI also extends into Gmail, Docs, and the upcoming Vids app for productivity tasks.
  • Project Mariner: A research prototype that acts as a multi-tasking dashboard, allowing users to manage up to 10 actions simultaneously.
  • Extras: The plan also includes an individual YouTube Premium subscription and 30TB of Google storage across Photos, Drive, and Gmail.

Google has also upgraded its existing AI Premium plan, which is now rebranded as Google AI Pro. At no extra cost, Pro users in the U.S. will get access to basic Flow filmmaking tools via Veo 2 and an early version of Gemini in Chrome.

Furthermore, the company has announced that it will expand free AI Pro access to university students in Brazil, Japan, Indonesia, and the UK during the school year.

That’s a wrap for Google’s most expensive AI subscription plan. Whether the market is ready to pay for such premium AI capabilities remains to be seen. But for now, Google is making a clear play for the top end of the AI user spectrum.
