Google's Gemini-powered Nest devices are already appearing at retailers — what we know

We first heard about a bunch of new unreleased Nest devices a couple of weeks ago, supposedly ahead of an October 1 launch date. Now it seems those devices have started showing up in retail stores, with images being shared across sites like Reddit.

Three new devices have been spotted: a Nest Cam Outdoor, a Nest Cam Indoor and a Nest Doorbell, which is available in two different colors. Based on the photos, the design seems to remain largely unchanged from previous models.

But design isn't everything, and the packaging does suggest there will be internal upgrades to get excited about. The most notable is the upgraded 2K video resolution, though the most exciting thing is the addition of Google Gemini support. We already knew Gemini would come to Nest devices, but it's another matter to see it actually happening.

There is currently no sign of the unannounced Google Home Speaker, which briefly appeared during the Pixel 10 launch event. While this speaker may also have leaked information in the coming weeks, we might have to wait for Google's upcoming hardware event to learn more details.

That event should also divulge pricing details because, as TechRadar points out, we can't be 100% sure that the pricing pictured is actually accurate. Since the new Nest devices aren't available on store shelves, the likelihood is that the listed prices are for older models. Google could keep prices the same for the new generation, but they could just as easily change them to account for the enhanced features.

We won't know for sure until the official announcement. Google has confirmed that this will be happening on October 1, and the focus will be on bringing Gemini into the Google Home ecosystem.
